Canna 'King Humbert' with Echinacea purpurea and tufts of shasta daisy foliage (see July). |
|
I love it in front of the yellow fall foliage! |
|
Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) will be left up for the whole winter. |
|
Still some rosy glow, thankfully! |
I am scheming some succession posts for the winter months... but if you want to take a look for yourself, I have a rough outline in the
Hill Garden in July post.
I hope those of you who garden in the cool areas of the northern hemisphere are able to savor these last fleeting garden moments of the year! Take an extra walk around your garden or the park today to drink it in!
Once you have finished enjoying this foliage for October, you might enjoy going on to
Christina at
Creating My Own Garden of the Hesperides to read about more foliage across the world for
Garden Bloggers' Foliage Day, which is the 22nd of each month.
I do love those walks in my garden. October is a favorite month. Your garden is lovely as it prepares for winter. I like your coneflower seedheads!
ReplyDeleteThe light through teh cannas is so beautiful, Christina
ReplyDeleteEven in October, your echinaceas look pretty!
ReplyDeletelooking lovely!
ReplyDeleteIsn't is wonderful...taking a moment now and again to just enjoy the garden! I just love these fall days...they are all even more precious, knowing that winter will soon be here.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Garden Blogger's Foliage Day! Gosh, that's one I can do all year round. Thanks! Love the light behind your Cannas -- they look regal!
ReplyDeleteWill check out GBFD. Love the gardens still and my echinacea is throwing out a couple of blooms still. I am impressed with plants that keep going up until the first freeze...good time to savor the garden. I do it by planting hundreds of bulbs and weeding still.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Julie, and as I said I love the cannas! Christina
ReplyDeleteA perfect autumnal morning Julie, the light is incredible!
