Early March Flowers... and some snow

Crocus 'Goldilocks' in the Driveway Garden... can you see the purple haze in the backyard beyond? March 1st.
More of early bloomer Crocus tommasinianus in the Back Woodland and the children playing round and round on the patio.
First Hellebores orientalis bloom of the season.
A nice, new, though a bit wobbly, garden edge in the Driveway Garden dusted with snow.
Shoots of Crocus 'Goldilocks', tulips and daffodils uncovered in the Driveway Garden and braving the snow.
The Driveway Garden with a bit of snow, which is often seen coming and going these days. March 5th.
Spring is creeping up on us, though the temperature keep trying to hold it back (20 F this morning). But still it comes.

I have been dealing with some inner ear issues that have made the world swirl about me, but hopefully everything (playing with kids, cooking meals and trying to read, especially on the computer!) will be easier for me by the end of the week. I am still hoping to get out a few more succession planting posts before spring is in full swing; on the other hand, I can't wait to get out in the garden! But both are on hold. My life is a practice of enjoying what there is to enjoy in each day, whether sick or well, snow or sun. I hope that I may lay hold of what is good in life today and be thankful for it!

Happy March!
May the flowers soon be blooming on your doorstep~
Julie

  3. Do love the scattered naturalized Crocus tommasinianus. Lovely. Hope it warms up for you soon. And, Giverny is terribly overrated and overrun. Do see Kerdalo in Brittany!

    1. Sisyphe,
Thank you for the travel tip! It is difficult to tell much about a location long distance. I am looking up Kerdalo already!
      Thanks,

  4. Julie I am sending you wishes for feeling better soon. There is nothing worse than being held back from what we love to do, but I have learned to go with the flow too...like nature those cold temps are holding us back...for me so I have time to garden and for you so you are well enough to garden soon...love the brave crocus!

  5. Really hope you feel better soon and can enjoy gardening once more, I'm in the same boat with my muscles not working properly at the moment. Crocus are so full of hope aren't they, they cope with whatever the weather throws at them and say that spring us just around the corner.

  7. Ugh, I hope you are feeling better soon! I love seeing early spring blooms poking their heads up through the snow. Something I only get to see on blogs.

  8. Beautiful Crocuses! They look so naturalized in your garden--like they really belong there! I hope you're feeling better. Chores, kids, changing seasons, and viruses can make days seem like a whirlwind. Take a little time for yourself now and then. Take care!

  9. Years ago I had that world swirling virus. The horror of the memory is with me still, but the dizziness itself long since GONE. I hope you are back to good health now?

    1. Not quite, though I am having a better day today so far. Thank you for your concern - everyone! I have had so many caring and encouraging words lately to help me persevere on. Perhaps it will be over this week? I sure hope so!

  10. I had a lot of inner ear issues with terrible vertigo for a couple of years. Doctors ran all sorts of nasty tests and suggested all kinds of nasty drugs. What really helped was the Epley Maneuver, which I originally had a professional do but now my husband does it. You can find videos on the internet. I hope that's all you need.
