A few more orchid photos from our last trip to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA. This week we will be going to see their winter Orchid & Bonsai Show, which has been my favorite of their displays in the past two years. I hope to share a nice batch of photos from our trip. Have a great weekend!

    1. Donna,
I highly recommend Phipps Conservatory and Longwood Gardens for orchids. I prefer the natural styling of Phipps Orchid room to the more formal pot display at Longwood, but Longwood often has beautiful wreaths incorporating their potted orchids. Both have year-round display rooms. So, you have a few options next time you are in PA. :)

    1. Good choice. I really like the proportions of that one to its plant... the flower is not quite so enormous. Not that the others are ugly :)

  5. They are lovely, Julie! I noticed some Orchids at the garden center today and I almost bought one. They're so fun to grow and see in the winter!

    1. There is something nice about seeing so much color in the winter months! I have never grown one successfully, and do not plan to try it myself until I get some windows with a bit more winter light, though they do not need direct light. Check back for the Orchid Show photos... they should be good :)

  6. What beautiful photos of some really gorgeous plants, so beautiful to visit somewhere like this while waiting for spring! I'm beginning to be more successful getting my 2 plants to re-flower each year, really look forward to the flowers opening each year - just perfection!
