Dwarf Asiatic lilies blooming on the edge of our Driveway Garden this week. |
Lilies are one of the fragrant joys of the garden in July! We have quite a few here and there this year. These dwarf, pink lilies are always a favorite by our walk from the back door to the car.
|
These pink lilies are surrounded by other plants in bloom, such as Clematis 'Henryetta' on the trellis, lady's mantle (Alchemilla mollis), and Lavender 'Munstead Wood'. Fescue 'Elijah Blue' is in the lower right corner, catching lily petals. |
|
We had quite a few thunderstorms this week, which really perked up the plants. I caught some rain drops on these lilies after a good rain one afternoon. |
Happy Independence Day to my US readers!
I hope you have beautifully sunny weather where you are to enjoy the festivities!

Happy 4th to you too, Julie. I have these same lilies also, so pretty and compact.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna! They are great. And I love seeing their yellow leaves in this bed in the autumn.

Raining here for our fourth, I planted some that look very similar to your pictures, however they have finished blooming here. I look forward to the bulbs increasing, hoping that they will have as many flowers as your photo shows.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, you are making me miss my Casa Blancas. I'm surprised to hear your Asiatic lilies are fragrant, mine are not and I didn't think there were fragrant varieties.
ReplyDeleteJason,
DeleteYou are right. I was actually thinking about my oriental lilies fragrance, which are also blooming everywhere. Asiatic not so fragrant, very true. I do have a daylily (Hemerocallis 'Autumn Minaret') that smells sweet like lily-of-the-valley. :) http://wifemothergardener.blogspot.com/2012/07/gardening-in-pennsylvania-gbbd-july.html
