Our first tree peony blooms! |
Just had to share this beautiful
a red form of Paeonia suffruticosa that is in our Cherry Corner garden. I watched anxiously over it earlier in the season, but it really does appear to be hardy enough to have weather our cold, snowy winter. I am so pleased! It is planted in a fairly sunny spot with a little dappled light.
Have a restful weekend!

Thanks for cheering up a windy overcaste day with the sunny peony. Christina
ReplyDeleteStunning! All the buds on my tree peonies rotted and fell of this year, so I'll have to wait until next year to see the first blooms. And the rest of the peonies are still waiting to bloom - can't wait for peony season!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, I like the papery texture of the petals, almost like a red poppy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this beautiful picture - tree peonies seem far to exotic to flower so early in the year!
ReplyDeleteYou have a really beautiful peony in bloom. We were for 2 weeks on holiday and just came back. There are 2 peonies flowering I saw this morning but they had suffered from rain and wind a lot. Tree peonies are always a bit difficult over here. You are so lucky this magnificent one survived the wintere.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful flower, they look so delicate but are proving to be quite tough here, lovely colour too!
ReplyDeleteLovely flower...I am amazed at how these flowers make it through our winter...mine has few blooms but I think it needs more sun...moving it this fall.
