Tulips at Longwood Gardens: Tulipa 'Purple Dream' & Tulipa 'Queen of the Night' |
Here is a peek at the wonderful tulip displays at Longwood Gardens this month!
The lily-flowered Tulipa 'Purple Dream' just glows in the May sunlight. And late blooming Tulipa 'Queen of the Night', a classic, tempers the dreamer a bit and adds some great contrast.
More from Longwood Gardens soon. Hope you are enjoying a restful weekend!

That is just so beautiful! Thank you.
ReplyDeletePurple Dream was a chance choice for my garden last autumn. I was so pleased I had planted it. You'll find some images if you search my April posts. Christina
ReplyDeleteI also really like it... I will have to take a look at yours! Thanks!

I have got to find a way to plant more tulips and thwart the deer...this is a gorgeous display
ReplyDeleteDonna,
DeleteDo they eat things in the front of your house? And I have wondered whether planting tulips with large numbers of Allium would help at all?? I just got home from some friends who say they spray their tulips as soon as they start to come up in spring with deer-deterrent... maybe worth a try for you?
I know if we move somewhere with deer eating, I am going to have some heartbreak to deal with!
Have a great weekend,
~Julie
Gorgeous! Chicago Botanic Garden did something similar with tulips in different shades of purple.
ReplyDeleteLovely tulips!! I really like your blog, Julie! It's quite helpful for a beginner like me, heh.. it's not like the weather in Finland its so similar to yours, but.. it seems to be working just fine! Next august I'll give my first try with planting tulips.. let's see! =D
ReplyDeleteWow, that is simply stunning--both the flowers and the sunlight and your photography. Thanks for making my day!
