Thalictrum delavayi 'Splendide'

Meadow rue's ethereal flowers in an early-autumn sunset.

I have added another plant of this variety to the other side of our wooden gate in the backyard. They are refreshing in their novelty at this time of year!

See GBBD August for its location and foliage.

  1. I hadn't previously known what Meadow Rue is like, nor expected it to be a garden plant.

  5. It's a gorgeous plant, so pretty, and delicate looking. I love mine, and they grow in pots, but do quite fine.

The shot of the sunlight through the blossoms is delish!

  7. One of my favorite garden perennials. From all of the Thalictrum varieties, I like Splendide the best.

  8. I give this plant a 10 out of 10 ... firstly, the huge ferny foliage is so amazing in its own right and the blooms just don't stop coming for months on end ... here it is past the middle of September and instead of waning, it has continued to branch out from along the stems and being awash in bloom from near to the ground up to its 7 ft tall height ... and to boot has thrived in my zone 3 garden for five years now ... I'll definitely be planting more of these!
