Clematis 'Perle d'Azur' |
I planted it to climb along with a climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea anomala petiolaris), hoping that eventually they will complement each other. It is important to give a new clematis some shade for its roots by planting its root ball behind some bushy plants (geraniums in this case). It has laced its way up the tree this year as I have tucked its main stem into the rough bark.

It has been worth waiting for!
A very fun climber, and great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI love the way this beautiful clematis is climbing a tree! I have seen them on trellis and fences and twining through shrubs, but I think I like them best like this.
ReplyDeleteBeen looking at clematis for my neighbours tree and this one looks lovely climbing up the trunk. Really nice colour and size.
ReplyDeleteI love how it climbs on the tree trunk. I never thought of training one up a tree!
