We have Moved!

Our new house & garden

After years of waiting & wondering about where our garden (and home) would be for the next few decades, we have finally moved! It is an older house, not too far from our previous residence, that is in need of some love, but brimming with potential.

At the front of the house is a wooded section of nearly a half-acre. There is a tiny stone wall left to remind us of the long-ago gardeners who worked here...

... and also a mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia), which is the Pennsylvania state shrub...
... the golden bracts that revealed this deciduous tree to be an American hop hornbeam (Ostrya virginiana)...
... a perfectly Narinian gas light...
... and a bit of English holly (Ilex aquifolium) to brighten our holidays.
Many more photos and stories to come this year as we are beginning the life of a new one-acre, town garden. I hope you will enjoy reading along!

And for my long time readers, never fear: Gilmore Gardens is still ours as well. That house continues to be our rental property, and so the gardens still belong to us. I am actually looking forward to seeing my first garden at Gilmore grow to a more graceful maturity, with more emphasis on green and less on flowers. The transition from that garden to this new one is sure to be interesting! :)

Happy December to you!

    1. Thanks Nicole! It is going to be our dream too... when we finish fixing the leaky faucets, falling down this & that, etc. Many years of work ahead of us, but that is part of the fun, right?! :) Merry Christmas to you!
