Looking at those beautiful roses has given me a terrible case of Spring fever Julie! What a beautiful photograph. All I am thinking right now is "I bet those roses smell like heaven..". Thanks. I needed a June reminder.
Hi Julie, I just wrote a post about a botanical artist famous for his roses. Your rose reminds me of one of his illustrations. What is the name of your pink rose? It looks similar to "Souvenir de la Malmaison". I'm curious what that beautiful pink rose is called if you know. Thank you.
Dear Susan, Oh, how I wish I could tell you!! I order this climbing rose 5 years ago from Wayside Gardens as Rosa 'Moonlight'. After a few years of seeing it bloom and looking at other peoples photos of R 'Moonlight', I pretty sure they sent me the wrong rose. I have wondered if I could figure it out from other varieties they sold at that time, but obviously it was miss-tagged at some point in a nursery. Sorry!
If you have any suggestions, I will look them up! It does have a nice fragrance, and a smaller rebloom later in the season. The flowers hang quite a bit from the stems, which is a good reason to plant this rose where it can hang down to be seen. ~Julie
I know the feeling...ha ha. Thanks for the response. It is a beautiful rose no matter what it is called. That is for certain. I will have to ask some of the rose people I know if they can identify it from your photo. It takes my breath away every time I look at it.
