It's the reason I love daffodils too! I used to not like such bright colours later in summer but now I live here where the sun bleaches the colour from delicate hues I love strong, bright colours. But your idea sounds lovely, more subtle, maybe your light is softer than mine, I imagine it is. My Iris reticulata only ever last one year but still worth it.
